PALM SUNDAY
This image was inspired when I was asked to give a live chalk presentation during a church service on Palm Sunday 2005. The Holy Spirit moved my hand swiftly across the large canvas in front of the congregation as the musicians sang! The image of Christ crucified in the upper far right portion of the drawing came to me as I imagined Christ contemplating His death. When the music stopped and the image was completed, sobbing could be heard among the crowd. There was not a dry eye in the church! The Pastor waited a while, stood up and said “Need I say anything more?” And he sat back down in his chair!
We all remember how the crowds came to cheer the Hosanna that day in the streets. How suddenly the mood changed when our King and Savior was asked to suffer for our sins with a crown made of thorns instead of jewels. Each thorn, though, is really a jewel for each one of us so we can spend time in eternity.
